Gary Mahathey, Associate Pastor
A native of Winston-Salem, Gary graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Religion and History. The years after graduation were spent in the business world until surrendering to the call to enter the ordained ministry. As a “second career” pastor Gary completed his seminary education at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte. He is an ordained elder in the Western North Carolina Conference. He and his wife Judy have been married for 33 years. They have 4 adult children, Ian, Anna, Paige, and Marisa.
Gary served on staff at Mt. Tabor UMC as Minister of Spiritual Formation and Visitation before serving as associate pastor there for four years. He also served a two-point charge in East Bend for four years before being appointed to Maple Springs.
Gary enjoys spending time outside in the beauty of God’s creation, serving the church in many varied capacities, reading, and listening to music for relaxation.
